Black Cumin Seed Extract supplier/manufactuer
KINTAIBIO®'s Black Cumin Seed Extract Powder is derived from the mature seeds of Nigella sativa, with raw materials sourced primarily from traditional cultivation regions such as Xinjiang, China. Modern phytochemical research indicates that black cumin seed-a natural botanical ingredient with a long history of use-is rich in various active compounds, including thymoquinone (TQ), volatile oils, unsaturated fatty acids, flavonoids, and polyphenols. Thymoquinone is considered the most representative functional constituent; consequently, the thymoquinone content typically serves as the primary quality benchmark for black cumin seed extracts on the market. We offer extracts with ratios such as 10:1 and 20:1, as well as standardized specifications containing 5%, 10%, or 20% thymoquinone, and can provide a range of specifications and customized standards to meet diverse application requirements.

As a professional manufacturer of botanical extracts, we employ advanced processes-including extraction, concentration, purification, and spray drying-to ensure the stability of active ingredients. We also strictly control quality parameters such as heavy metals, pesticide residues, and microbial levels, guaranteeing that our Black Cumin Seed Extract Powder /Nigella Sativa Extract Powder meets international quality standards for ingredients used in foods, dietary supplements, functional beverages, cosmetics, and natural health products. Please feel free to contact sales@kintaibio.com.

Black Cumin Seed Extract extraction method

Raw Material Pretreatment
Dried, mature seeds of Nigella glandulifera are fed into a pulverizer and ground. The resulting powder is passed through a 0.5 mm mesh sieve to ensure uniform particle size, thereby increasing the contact surface area for subsequent extraction. The ground material is temporarily stored in a clean, airtight container for later use.
Microwave-Assisted Extraction
A weighed amount of the pretreated black cumin seed powder is mixed with anhydrous ethanol at a solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:10–25 (mass/volume) and placed in a microwave extraction vessel. The microwave irradiation power is set between 400 and 700 W, with the temperature maintained below 75°C throughout the extraction process; the extraction duration ranges from 10 to 120 seconds. Upon completion, the solid residue and the thymoquinone-containing extract are separated via plate-and-frame filtration or centrifugation. The residue undergoes one or two additional extraction cycles under the same conditions, and the extracts from all cycles are pooled.
Low-Temperature Solvent Recovery
The pooled extract is transferred to a vacuum concentration vessel, where ethanol is recovered under reduced pressure at a temperature not exceeding 35°C until a dry, extract-like residue remains. The recovered ethanol is condensed and stored for potential reuse in subsequent extraction batches. A dry crude extract is thus obtained.
Dissolution and Sample Loading
An appropriate volume of a petroleum ether-ethyl acetate (9:1) mixture is added to the dry crude extract, and the mixture is stirred thoroughly to ensure complete dissolution. Concurrently, a silica gel chromatography column is prepared: silica gel (200–300 mesh) is packed using the wet-packing method, and the column is equilibrated by pre-eluting with the petroleum ether-ethyl acetate (9:1) solution. The fully dissolved sample solution is quantitatively transferred to the top of the column, ensuring the liquid level remains steady.
Column Chromatography Elution
Isocratic elution is performed using a petroleum ether-ethyl acetate (8:2) mixture as the eluent at a controlled flow rate, with the eluate collected in fractions. The elution process is monitored via thin-layer chromatography (TLC) or online detection; fractions containing thymoquinone are pooled to yield a high-purity thymoquinone eluate.
Concentration and Low-Temperature Drying
The collected eluate is transferred to vacuum concentration equipment and concentrated under reduced pressure at a temperature below 35°C until a small volume is reached. It is then transferred to a low-temperature drying oven or freeze-dryer and dried thoroughly at the same temperature (≤35°C) to remove residual solvents, ultimately yielding the black cumin seed extract powder. After passing quality inspections-including assays for active ingredient content (via HPLC), residual solvents, and microbiological parameters-the product is packaged according to specifications and placed into storage.
what is black cumin seed extract good for ?
black cumin seed extract benefits for diabetes
In recent years, a substantial body of experimental and clinical data regarding black cumin seed extract has emerged in the field of diabetes research. Its primary active component, thymoquinone (TQ), exhibits potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; it exerts beneficial effects on glucose metabolism through various mechanisms, such as scavenging free radicals, alleviating oxidative stress, modulating inflammatory responses, and improving pancreatic β-cell function.
Animal studies have demonstrated that black cumin seed extract can lower blood glucose levels in hyperglycemic models, ameliorate dyslipidemia, and mitigate oxidative damage caused by chronic hyperglycemia. Furthermore, some clinical studies indicate that supplementing standard antihyperglycemic therapy with black cumin seed extract preparations may help improve glycemic control and certain metabolic markers in patients with type 2 diabetes, while also offering adjunctive benefits in addressing diabetes-related oxidative stress and vascular endothelial dysfunction.
Black cumin seed extract for chicken
Black cumin is considered a promising natural plant-based feed ingredient in animal nutrition, particularly in research concerning its use for chickens. Studies indicate that supplementing broiler diets with black cumin seeds, oil, or extracts can enhance antioxidant capacity and immune function, improve intestinal microbial balance, and positively influence feed conversion ratios, growth performance, and meat quality-effects attributed to the combined action of thymoquinone, polyphenols, and volatile active compounds.

Research has also shown that under production conditions involving heat stress or disease challenges, products derived from black cumin seed extract help maintain hepatic metabolic function, regulate blood lipid levels, and reduce oxidative stress, thereby supporting the overall health and productivity of broilers. It should be noted, however, that results vary across studies due to differences in the form of the ingredient used, dosage levels, and rearing conditions.
