Our 98% Eucommia Ulmoides Leaf Extract Chlorogenic Acid (regular spec) is a white powder, sensitive to oxidation, unstable in alkaline conditions, and decomposes when heated. It remains stable under UV light (UVA/UVB). The semi-hydrate form is needle-like, transforming into an anhydrous compound at 110°C.

  Production Process:

KINTAI uses advanced green extraction technology to extract high-purity chlorogenic acid (98%) from Eucommia ulmoides leaves. Eucommia ulmoides leaves are rich in chlorogenic acid, with a concentration of up to 5.5%. Compared with traditional coffee beans and honeysuckle, Eucommia ulmoides leaves are cheaper and more abundant in resources, thus ensuring our high-purity and high-efficiency production process of chlorogenic acid.

 

  Raw Material Selection:
We use Eucommia ulmoides leaves as the main raw material for chlorogenic acid extraction. According to relevant research, the chlorogenic acid content in Eucommia ulmoides leaves is generally 4% to 6%, and the leaf growth cycle of Eucommia ulmoides is short, which can be collected all year round, with stable production and supply capacity. The annual output of raw materials exceeds 4 million tons, which makes our production of chlorogenic acid sustainable. And it has more cost advantages than other sources of chlorogenic acid (such as coffee beans).

  Extraction process:
We use water extraction to extract Eucommia Ulmoides Leaf Extract Chlorogenic Acid. Water extraction conforms to the principle of "like dissolves like", which is an environmentally friendly and solvent-free extraction method. The extraction rate is optimized by controlling key parameters such as particle size of Eucommia ulmoides, solvent type, material-liquid ratio, extraction time, temperature and number of extractions. This method not only meets environmental protection requirements, but also improves the extraction efficiency of chlorogenic acid while ensuring safety. We have improved the extraction rate and reduced energy consumption by combining water extraction with modern extraction technology and optimizing our process many times. The current process is as follows:

  • Extraction solvent: pure water
  • Extraction temperature: 60-80°C
  • Extraction time: 30-90 minutes

  • Number of extractions: 2-3 times

 

Optimized extraction process in 2024:

In order to improve the extraction rate, we introduced ultrasonic assisted extraction in 2024 to increase the extraction rate of chlorogenic acid by 20%-30%. And the use of hot reflux method ensures higher extraction efficiency, reduces extraction time and reduces energy consumption. In addition, our production department personnel recover solvents after each extraction, reducing solvent waste and reducing production costs.

 

   Refining, purification and separation process:
After extraction, the raw material liquid of chlorogenic acid also contains other impurities. In order to improve the purity of the product, we use a series of refining processes.

  • Solvent extraction: Use a mixed solvent system of ethanol and ethyl acetate for preliminary impurity removal.
  • Activated carbon adsorption: Used to remove pigments and other small molecular impurities in aqueous solutions.
  • Macroporous resin separation: Further purification by macroporous resin adsorption and elution.
  • Countercurrent chromatography technology: Separate chlorogenic acid and keep the yield after separation above 85%, improve its purity, and remove most of the unreacted impurities.
  • Final purity: After a series of refining, KINTAI's chlorogenic acid purity can reach more than 98%, and the impurity content is reduced to less than 0.2%.

 

Compared with our traditional column chromatography method, this process has more cost advantages and simple operation, which further promotes our large-scale industrial production
