As a traditional precious plant in China, Eucommia ulmoides is not only a common medicinal material in traditional Chinese medicine, but also known as the "Oriental God Tree" or "Plant Gold". Usually, polar organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, and methanol are used to extract chlorogenic acid from plants. However, due to the instability of chlorogenic acid itself, high temperature, strong light, and long-term heating should be avoided during extraction.

(1) Limethiol method: Concentrate the extract → adjust the pH to 12 with 20 wt% milk of lime → filter the precipitate → add 2 times the amount of ethanol to suspend → adjust the pH value to 3 with HSO4 with a volume fraction of 50% -4→full stirring→filtering→the filtrate is neutralized to neutral with 40% NaOH in mass fraction→filtering→concentrating→drying→to obtain crude chlorogenic acid

(2) Water extraction and alcohol analysis method: take advantage of the property that chlorogenic acid is easily soluble in water, use water as a solvent, heat and boil for extraction, and then use high-concentration alcohol to precipitate impurities such as proteins, mucus, and polysaccharides.

(3) Alcohol extraction-lead salt precipitation method: extract with ethanol → vacuum concentrate the extract to make an extract → add water to dissolve → add lead salt to precipitate → filter the precipitate → add 20% sulfuric acid to dissolve the precipitate → precipitate chlorogenic acid → Extract with ethyl acetate → concentrate and precipitate crude product → recrystallize → pure product

1 Antioxidation and anti-aging
The water extract and methanol extract of Eucommia ulmoides leaf promote collagen synthesis and achieve the effect of delaying aging. In addition, it can significantly increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes (such as superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, etc.) in aging mice and inhibit oxidative damage.
