Plant source: Thyme (scientific name: Thymus mongolicus) is one of the 8 most important genera of Lamiaceae, which includes about 350 species of perennial aromatic herbs.
Thyme is also known as thyme, thyme, ground ginger, ground pepper, etc. Thyme is a short and semi-shrub herb, the height of the plant generally exceeds 20 cm, the stems grow prostrate, slightly lignified, with four edges, and there are a large number of erect parallel trees with small stems, sterile shoots sprout from the ends or bases of the stems. 4.HPLC analysis
Thyme leaf extract is rich in a variety of phenolic compounds, using a liquid chromatograph (Agilent 1200 series) equipped with a diode array detector (DAD) and Eclipse XDB-C18, 1.8 μm, 4.6 × 50 mm column at 1 mL/min HPLC analysis was performed at the flow rate.
★ Below is the chromatogram at 280nm of the standard mixture used for the chemical analysis of the Thyme extract studied. The elution order of the compounds was: 1-gallic acid, 2-protocatechuic acid, 3-p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4-caffeic acid, 5-vanillic acid, 6-chlorogenic acid, 7-syringic acid, 8- p-coumaric acid, 9-ferulic acid, 10-sinapic acid, 11-rutin, 12-myricetin, 13-rosmarinic acid, 14-cinnamic acid, 15-quercetin, 16-naringenin , 17-luteolin, 7-O-glucuronide, 18-kaempferol, 19-apigenin.

★ Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects
Thyme extract Thyme essential oil has a regulatory control effect on Aeromonas bacteria in vegetable processing. Thyme aromatic oil has different degrees of inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli. ★ Antioxidant effect
Thyme methanol extract has one of the strongest antioxidant activities among all the wild plant extracts collected. The antioxidant capacity of thyme aromatic oil added to 1200mg/kg was close to that of 200mg/kg dibutyltoluene (BHT), and it did not affect the color and smell of soybean oil. Taking the scavenging effect of diphenylpichydrazine free radicals (DPPH) as an index, the evaluation results of the antioxidant effects of 16 kinds of thyme volatile oils showed that among these 16 kinds of plants, thyme volatile oils had moderate antioxidant effects. Thyme extract also has a certain anti-fat oxidation effect. Studies have shown that Thymus vulgaris L. has stronger antioxidant activity than known antioxidant vitamin E and BHT.
★ Other functions
Thyme volatile oil has anti-allergic effect, and has a certain therapeutic effect on allergic rhinitis and allergic dermatitis; it has inhibitory effect on tumors, can effectively improve immunity; and can also inhibit the formation of thrombus.
