1.What is Apigenin ?
Apigenin chamomile extract apigenin belongs to flavonoids, almost insoluble in water, partially soluble in hot alcohol, soluble in dilute KOH solution. Apigenin occurs as a plant yellow pigment in a variety of plants, including chamomile, lemon balm, perilla, verbena, and yarrow. However, it is rich in chamomile tea, which can reduce anxiety in large doses. In higher doses, it may have a sedative effect.
Apigenin is also a very potent anticancer compound. Compared with non-cancerous cells, it has high selectivity for cancer cells and can effectively prevent various cancers. It also has a very high safety threshold and active (cancer-fighting) doses can be obtained by consuming a diet rich in vegetables and fruits.
Apigenin , belongs to flavonoids commonly found in nature. It exists in a variety of vegetables, fruits, and plants, and the content in Compositae plants is relatively large. Extracted from the dried flowers of chamomile, it is a high-purity cosmetic-grade raw material. As a flavonoid compound, apigenin has multiple biological activities: apigenin has a strong absorption ability to UVB ultraviolet rays, can protect against radiation damage, and can be used in sunscreen cosmetics. Apiletin has strong anti-oxidation properties, strong ability to capture various oxygen-containing free radicals, and can prevent the oxidative degradation of oils and fats. Apigenin is increasingly widely used in various functional cosmetics.

2.What is the content of apigenin in chamomile tea?
Apigenin is found in chamomile, which is often drunk as a tea. It is extracted from the dried flowers of chamomile, an annual herb native to West Asia and Europe. Distributed in the wilderness and fields of river valleys and fields in the north and west of Xinjiang, China. Chamomile flower heads can be used as medicine, have sweating and antispasmodic effects. Whole herbs contain high amounts of vitamins A and C. Matricaria is an aromatic plant that also has ornamental value.
The amount of apigenin in chamomile teas varies, with some chamomiles having significantly higher levels than others. Teas made from chamomile typically contain 0.8% to 1.2% apigenin.
Chamomile (Matricaria recursa L.), also known as mother chrysanthemum, is an annual herb. Wild plants were first discovered in Europe, North America, and northern Africa. The origin is western Europe, suitable for growing in relatively mild sandy soil. Currently, there are a large number of artificial cultivation in Xinjiang, China, and a small number are also distributed in Hunan, Sichuan, and other places. Chamomile is rich in carbohydrates and proteins. Chamomile contains more than 120 secondary metabolites, including 36 flavonoids and 28 bud compounds. The flavonoids content of chamomile is about 0.5%. The main flavonoids are apigenin, luteolin, and zeppetin. As a herbal medicine, chamomile has excellent biological activity, and chamomile extract has great utilization value in the fields of medicine and cosmetics.

Researchers found that chamomile may help improve the daytime function of insomnia patients.
7.Can celery alleviate anxiety?
Apigenin has been proved to induce sedation and alleviate the symptoms of depression and anxiety in animals. In addition, in a number of human trials, chamomile extract has been proven to effectively reduce generalized anxiety disorder (GAD; an anxiety disorder affecting 6.8 million adults or 3.1% of the United States population) and depression (it is estimated that 21 million adults in the United States had at least one episode of major depression in 2020). The chamomile extract used was standardized to 1.2% apigenin. Volunteers with comorbid depression, or anxiety disorder with a history of depression, or anxiety disorder without current or past depression, long-term use of chamomile extract can significantly improve the mood of all participants. The antidepressant effect of chamomile is mainly attributed to the content of apigenin.
