3.Functions of proanthocyanidins (proanthocyanidin oligomers) (OPCs)
The antioxidant capacity of pine bark extract comes from proanthocyanidins (proanthocyanidin oligomers) (OPCs), which are 20 times stronger than vitamin C and 50 times stronger than vitamin E. OPCs have been extensively tested for safety and are considered non-toxic. Side effects are rare, but occasional allergic reactions and mild indigestion have been found.
