1. Product Introduction

Silymarin Powder is extracted from the Milk thistle (Silybum marianum L. Gaertn) which is a herbaceous plant of the genus Silybum in the family Asteraceae, native to southern Europe and northern Africa. Milk thistle is a popular European herbal medicine, and its extract was used in the treatment of diseases of the liver and gallbladder in the West as early as the 4th century BC.

Silymarin (silymarin) is a new type of flavonoid extracted from milk thistle seeds, the main components are silybin/silybin in, iso silybin, silibinin, and milk thistle pavilion (silicristin), etc. Among them, silibinin has the highest content and the strongest biological activity. Basic and clinical studies have confirmed that silibinin has liver protection, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulation. a. Antioxidant effect: Silymarin Powder can protect the liver cell membrane by resisting lipid peroxidation and maintaining cell membrane fluidity; it can also inhibit the release of superoxide anions by neutrophils and reduce inflammatory cell damage to liver cells. Silibinin can increase the expression of superoxide dismutase (superoxide dismutase, SOD) in lymphocytes caused by chronic alcoholic liver disease, thus playing an antioxidant role. Studies have also reported that silibinin can reduce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative species such as malondialdehyde (MDA).
